Here, you’ll find flexible, self-paced and instructor-guided online courses designed to help you gain the skills and strategies of Life Space Crisis Intervention. Whether you’re new to LSCI or looking to expand your expertise, our courses provide practical tools you can apply right away.

Level 1: Introduction to LSCI

Through the online Introduction to LSCI training, participants will discover:

  • The differences in psychological worlds between helping adults and kids under stress
  • The impact of chronic stress and traumatic events in the lives of young people
  • The brain’s role in driving repetitive and predictable patterns of self-defeating behavior

Level 2: LSCI Refresher Training

The online LSCI Refresher Training provides in-depth instruction in the fundamental skills of LSCI, including:

  • The brain’s role in driving repetitive and predictable patterns of self-defeating behavior

Level 2: LSCI Refresher Course

Prior Level 1 course completion required.

Level 3: The LSCI Interventions

Through the Level 3 training, participants will:

  • Deepen their understanding of LSCI
  • Work towards their Senior Trainer certification
  • Read articles which detail real-life LSCI interventions used between professionals and youth.
  • Submit brief written responses to thought questions about each of the six LSCI interventions

Level 3: The LSCI Interventions

Prior Level 1 and 2 course completion required.

The Conflict Cycle Paradigm

Through the Conflict Cycle Paradigm training, participants will discover:

  • The underlying dynamics of conflicts between adults and young people
  • How to prevent power struggles that lead to explosive conflicts
  • How to verbally de-escalate conflict situations with young people
  • How strong positive relationships between adults and kids can bring about behavioral changes

The Angry Smile

Through the Angry Smile training, participants will:

  • Define and distinguish passive aggression from other forms of anger expression
  • Identify typical passive-aggressive behaviors in children, teens and adults
  • Understand 5 distinct and increasingly pathological levels of passive aggression
  • Recognize how passive-aggressive behavior is displayed in home, school, relationships, the workplace & online
  • Learn specific skills for responding effectively to passive-aggressive behavior

Parenting the Challenging Child

Through the Parenting the Challenging Child training, participants will discover:

  • How to improve relationships with their child(ren)
  • What is happening in a young person’s brain during periods of stress and conflict
  • Proven strategies for de-escalating stressful situations and preventing problem behaviors
  • How to respond to children in ways that interrupt the dynamics of conflict

Through the Turning Down the Heat training, participants will discover:
